Vampire Diaries Fashion – How to Dress Like Katherine Pierce
Today, we have another installment of our Vampire Diaries fashion inspiration series. Over the past few weeks, we’ve showed you how to dress like Elena Gilbert, Caroline Forbes, and Bonnie Bennet, and recreate their styles on a college budget. This week, we’ll spotlight Katherine Pierce‘s style.
Katherine’s Style
Although she has a striking resemblance to Elena, Katherine definitely has her own style. Katherine opts for looks that reflect her personality – meaning she chooses pieces that are bold, chic and oozing confidence. Her style is definitely a little bit over-the-top sometimes, but you have to hand it to her – she knows how to command attention.
Whether you’re a jeans and tank-top girl or have a closet full of stilettos, Katherine’s style can offer a little inspiration for everyone.
The Vixen
Opting for form-fitting, barely-there dresses, Katherine is definitely not one to wear heavily printed or ruffled, girly frocks. Her dress style is all about sleek and chic sex appeal, always with an air of mystery.
To get her look, stock up on little black dresses with simple embellishments like lace or ribbon. Add a great pair of pumps and dramatic makeup to capture Katherine’s dramatic style.

The Victorian
Some of the most interesting outfits on Vampire Diaries come from the historical flashbacks. Lacy dresses and lush fabrics are often seen in these flashbacks, and they represent the epitome of Victorian elegance.
Sadly, we can’t all wear gowns to class, but there are ways to include a little Victorian inspiration in your day-to-day looks. Look for pieces in light colors like blues and creams, delicate embellishments, and vintage (or vintage-inspired) jewelry to capture the look.

The Tough Girl
Of all of the characters, Katherine’s style is definitely the most scandalous and boundary-pushing. From tight leather pants and motorcycle jackets to sky-high heels, her looks are all about grabbing attention.
If head-to-toe leather isn’t quite your style, try black jeans and a simple bright top. Dark skinny jeans are super versatile – you can pair them with booties and a bomber jacket for a night out or with flats and an oxford shirt for a lunch date. Definitely worth the investment!

Tying it All Together

Fashion Friday #1 - Katherine Pierce vs Elena Gilbert of The Vampire Diaries
Nina Dobrev plays 2 different roles in The Vampire diaries; as the alluring vampiress, Katherine Pierce and as the innocent high school girl, Elena Gilbert. The Bulgarian-Canadian actress looks gorgeous all the time, but I think she looks her best in the vampire tv series.
For my first Fashion Friday entry on CelebSquare, here are two different Polyvore sets featuring Nina Dobrev as Katherine and also Elena. I love how the pastel-coloured 17th century dress looks on her. I’ve always wondered how it’s like to wear such a huge and heavy dress, and look sweet at the same time!
However, I also like her casual outfits in The Vampire Diaries. I like how her character, Elena Gilbert is always wearing dark colours like black, matched with mysterious, gothic colours such as crimson red and royal purple. I guess the show’s stylist picked those colours for her outfits to suit the theme and mood of the show.

Fashion Friday #22 - Get Katherine Pierce’s Southern Belle Look
Katherine Pierce is a character played by actress Nina Dobrev on CW’s The Vampire Diaries. The show is currently at it’s second season, and Nina Dobrev’s vampire character, Katherine Pierce has been getting a lot of attention.
I know I wrote a post way back in May about Katherine Pierce vs. Elena Gilbert, but I just cannot help it. I particularly love her Southern Belle look. I love the dresses and accessories, and I think Nina Dobrev plays Katherine very well.
Southern Belle dresses are huge and heavy, although nowadays, the dresses may be made with lighter materials so that they’re easier to wear. They’re available at various costume stores. You can also learn to make your own Southern Belle dress.
Essential accessories for Southern Belle include choker necklaces, mesh gloves, hand fan, and on a sunny day, a wide hat and a parasol. Victorian ankle boots complement the whole look, and typical Southern Belles have long, elaborate curls adorned with flowers, lace, and ribbons. You can get wigs with curls too, if you prefer not to have your hair curled.

Vampire Diaries Fashion – How to Dress Like Elena Gilbert
From all of your comments and emails, it’s become pretty obvious that many of you guys are huge fans of the TV show Vampire Diaries, so with the end of the One Tree Hill fashion series, it seemed only fitting to switch gears to another much-requested series. Over the next few weeks, I’ll be breaking down fashionable looks inspired by this popular show.
I’m going to kick this series off with Elena, who is really a quintessential student (besides the whole being in love with a vampire thing). She has a great casual style that we can all incorporate into our own wardrobes – read on to learn how!
About Elena’s Style
Natural hair and make-up, jeans, sneakers, tanks and t-shirts – Elena’s wardrobe is all about casual wardrobe classics that, when put together, perfectly reflect her personality.
She also opts for leather jackets and loves to wear deep hues of purple, green and red. In addition, she pairs most of her looks with a classic pair of black Chuck Taylors. Although the rich colors she wears are meant to mirror the fantasy and mystery of the show, they just also happen to be super flattering.
Bomber Jackets
In only a couple of seasons, Elena has rocked countless different jackets. The majority of her outerwear consists of leather jackets in either bomber or motorcycle style, and in a range of colors, from cream to black. What I love about leather jackets is that they are really versatile and come in a ton of different cuts and colors, each combination with its own unique vibe.
The trick to pulling off a bomber jacket like Elena is to really focus on finding a jacket with a great fit. If it’s too long or baggy, you risk looking more like you borrowed your boyfriend’s jacket – ideally, you want your jacket to fit like it was custom-made for you.
Also, color is important when it comes to leather (and faux-leather) jackets. If you aren’t adventurous enough to invest in a cream-colored style, opt for a piece in basic black – it will go with pretty much everything and the fabric and embellishments of the jacket will be more subtle against a darker backdrop.

Deep Colors
Okay, I admit it – I’ve featured almost every jewel-tone shade at one point or another while writing for CF. And for good reason: Deep colors are go-to favorites for celebrities, designers and TV costume departments (and me!) because they’re flattering on almost every skin tone and hair color.
In Elena’s case, these luxe colors not only complement her chocolate-brown hair, but they also echo the drama and mood of Vampire Diaries. Although most of her wardrobe consists cotton henleys and camis, a rich color like purple adds an instant touch of warmth to even the most basic pieces – it’s the perfect addition to any winter wardrobe.

Jeans and Converse
The most important element of Elena’s wardrobe is definitely her denim collection. She’s adventurous, athletic and has a little bit of an unpredictable life, and jeans are the perfect way to balance style and practicality. There was one aspect of her looks that struck me as unique – she’s often seen in flared jeans. It seems that skinny fit jeans have become the norm in pop culture and on college campuses, but Elena shows that flared jeans and pants are still trendy and stylish.
While skinny jeans are great for tucking into boots, flared and boot-cut styles work with everything from sandals, to flats, to sneakers - you definitely get your money’s worth when you buy a pair!

Elena’s Beauty Routine
Although her beauty routine is pretty simple, there are a few basic tools to use that will really help you capture Elena’s look.
- Stay away from harsh black eye make-up. Instead, opt for chocolate brown eye liner and mascara.
- Keep the lips simple – clear lip gloss or chapstick with a little bit of a shine is all you need.
- Use just a little bit of concealer to hide any blemishes or under-eye darkness, but don’t go crazy with foundation. Elena is all about the natural look.
- For a more formal occasion, brush a gold or taupe color eye shadow across your eye lids – no crazy colors!
Tying it All Together

Elena’s dress in Vampire Diaries wasn’t my favorite when you compare it to Caroline’s Dress for Miss Mystic Falls. What about you?
Why? While this is a strapless blue evening dress, and Elena’s dress inVampire Diaries had a halter dress, most blue halter dresses have all sorts of stupid rhinestones on them that look tacky. Elena’s hair covered the halter straps in the front, giving you the same simple sweetheart neckline look with both of these dresses. The only alteration is that there is a simple blue bow around the waist. But I’d rather have that than the silly blue ornaments Elena Gilbert wore in her hair in this Vampire Diariesfashion look.
(Some of you ask about Elena’s Founders Day Dress, and I think you mean this dress, not the Southern Belle one. )
